Build a Fire Pit with Your Family
There is nothing quite like spending time with your family, and building memories that will last a lifetime. A lot of the times, these great memories include cool summer nights over a fire. You may create a place in your backyard inexpensively for roasting marshmallows and hot dogs, or merely for looking at the embers in the dusk that deepens. The process of making a fire put isn’t very hard. What are you waiting for?
The first thing you will have to check on is whether or not it is legal for you to have an open fire where you live. Pick a spot that is a good distance from any fence, tree or wall feature.
Drive a stake into the center of the area you have chosen. The closer to level that this is, the better, both in the amount of work you will need to do, and in the safety of seating around the fire. Mark off a circle three to four feet in diameter with a length of string and a pencil, marker or chalk. Next, re-trace the circle using aerosol paint or another method to reinforce the outline.
Excavate one foot deep soil in the middle of the circular region. Keep the sides of the hole as straight as possible. For better drainage, dig a slightly deeper hole in the center of the pit. Next lay out a coating of small rocks across the ground surface at a depth of several inches. Put three more inches of sandy materials on top of this. This will prevent the fire from spreading to the roots of the trees by keeping it contained.
Concrete bricks are a simple way of building the fire pit wall. You can pack these along the rim of the pit without mortar, making it easier to refurbish broken ones.
This is among the simplest ways of designing a contained area for a fire. With more attention to design, and more complex plans, firepits can be raised, made more decorative, or incorporated into paved areas around your home.
It shall be an excellent pastime assignment for your family that relishes art works and performing as a team. You will feel very satisfied with your fire pit when you see your children and their grandparents enjoying it.
