How Does One Learn To Sing In Tune? Here’s An Important Key If You Want To Learn This

Keep hitting the wrong notes? Sometimes you may start thinking that you’re tone deaf and have no chances of ever singing. Hold your horses – if you think you’re tone deaf, you are actually falling for a common myth.

1. Tone Deafness and How You Can Learn To Sing In Tune

The statistics run so that you would probably be hard-pressed to count on one hand all the people that you know that are actually, clinically tone deaf. It’s that rare – and it means that you cannot distinguish a high whining sound from a low bass sound.

You very probably are not tone deaf. You simply have not had much practice using your voice apparatus when you were younger. It’s a learnable skill like any other and exposure leads to mastery. Tone deafness is a myth. You can indeed learn to sing in tune.

The thing is, you can probably follow a melody along, but you’re doing it off-key. The notes are not quite fitting into the pattern and are wavering up and down. Well, guess what? It’s easily corrected by practice. And what are the two secrets?

First, it’s listening to yourself. You’re probably thinking, “oh no, I already can hear the horrible noises coming out of my mouth, I don’t need MORE of that”. But that’s exactly what you need. If you want to correct your sound, you need to realize what exactly you are doing wrong right now.

I’ll get back to it. But the second critical thing if you really want to learn to sing in tune is adjusting MID-NOTE. Yes, that’s it. This is the big thing most people don’t realize. You can be a decent singer and nobody realizes that you actually do hit the occasional bad note, but you correct yourself automatically!

You need to learn that to hit the correct note, it’s okay for you to glide up or down INTO that note. You don’t need to start off with the perfect note. In fact, this is a common technique that professional singers use – sliding up and down smoothly.

2. So What’s My Next Steps Now?

Remember – you can indeed acquire this ability and learn to sing in tune, but you need to work towards it. Make the effort and go the extra step.

Don’t care if people tell you that there’s no point, you “either have talent or not”. I don’t believe in that. For me, the only thing that matters is PASSION. If you have a passion for singing and get a gread deal of enjoyment out of it, then if you just become slightly better, you will enjoy it even more. This leads to a self-reinforcing cycle and eventually the so-called “talent” will come. Once you get good, you want to get REALLY good.

Keep in mind though – everything I said applies to you to the extent that you actually take real action and practice developing your voice. If you’re a person who wants to learn how I have learned to sing extraordinarily within six months of starting regular practice, then read my article here: Singing in tune.
