Learning About The Film Hot Tub Time Machine

There seems to be new movies coming to DVD every single week, and not all of them are worth mentioning. In recent weeks, though, there has been a release that was all but certainly in contention with one of the best and hippest comedies of the new decade: “Hot Tub Time Machine”.

By reading through this particular article, you are committing to learn a little more about this film through a few different methods. More than anything though, you are going to get a breakdown of the plot and learn a little more about the sequence of events that made this film so epic in its own right. You will also get a brief introduction to some of the top names in this film and who they play.

This film centers around a group of friends that have really been much of anything but lately. Life has passed all of them by and left nothing to really show for all the time that they have been here. Each of them believes that if they could have just done something differently, everything could have been better. The main characters are Adam (John Cusack), Lou (Rob Corddry), and Nick (Craig Robinson).

Lou decides after a night of drinking to attempt to kill himself by leaving his car running with him inside while in the garage. Next thing you know, Adam and Nick find themselves at the hospital trying to figure out how so much space and time got between all of them. They commit that they are going to go on a trip to one of their childhood hot spots, the Kodiak Valley Ski Resort.

However, time has been nothing close to friendly with the resort, but they commit to staying anyway. They all get in the hot tub behind their room and through a freak accident, they wind up in 1986 at the heart of Winterfest. This is when the group was last at the resort and they quickly learn that this is the exact same time that they remember. They even look like they did back then to everyone but themselves.

They determine through the help of a creepy repairman (Chevy Chase) that they are going to have to be careful about what they do in the eighties again. Changes could dramatically alter the course of history, and they don’t want to do that. Adam is going to have to break up with the girl he has forever since considered to have been “the one”, Lou is going to have to get beaten up by some pompous ski patrol guy, and Nick is going to have to cheat on his wife with a groupie for his band, though he is not married in 1986.

There is a lot of ridiculousness that ensues after this, as they reach a point where none of them are able to follow things to a tee. While they might have lived more of Winterfest ’86 than they did in the past, they also have learned a lot more about themselves in the process.

If you were planning on checking out “Hot Tub Time Machine”, you are making a very good call. If you loved the eighties, than this film is for you. If you love great jokes and outlandish humor, than this movie is for you. If you just like to laugh hard, this movie is one that you will watch a time or two.
