My Amazing DVD Player Adventure
So I was out shopping with my friends the other day. We went to this electronic shop, and were just kind of browsing around. I didn’t expect to buy anything, just a way to kill a Saturday afternoon when you don’t have anything to do. I think I remember my friend saying he wanted one of those new electric scooters or something. I was absolutely flabbergasted when I saw what they had there that you could buy.
They had these DVD player that I’d never seen before. The kind you could take anywhere, and do anything with. I thought you had to have a TV or some kind of monitor to plug your DVD player into. But not these amazing little pieces of advanced technology. They weren’t very big, kind of the same size as those electronic dictionaries you see foreign exchange students carrying around with them all the time. Of course this included the screen also. At first I thought they wouldn’t be that great, because you would still have to plug them in.
I was brought back to bliss and happiness when I learned that these little gems can be run from batteries. And some of them can last several hours on a single charge. I started to imagine all the possibilities. I could to sit in the park and watch movies, or go to the library and pretend to study, all the while watching my favorite DVDs. This was likely the greatest invention ever. Hold on a second. Wouldn’t the sound from my DVD player bother all the people who were around me and trying to study or something?
That’s when I discovered another wonderful thing about these wonderful little devices. Most of these DVD players had their own headphone jack, so you could totally listen in private. Nobody around you would even know what you were watching. They wouldn’t be bothered or anything. Pure genius. And if you were somewhere like Starbucks or the public library, any background noise wouldn’t bother you at all. But, then my spirit sank. Surely these DVD players must be several hundred, or even a thousand dollars.
This is where I was delivered the most startling revelation I have ever heard. Some of these were less than a hundred dollars! Truly amazing technology at an affordable price. I probably have that much money on the floor in my car. But of course, in these modern times, most stores accept major credit cards. So I bought my own portable DVD player, and I have been happy ever since.
