One Can Either Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying
Somebody famous once said that we don’t stop playing because we get older but rather, we get older because we stop playing. This can be carried over to the need for most people to stay busy on either a physical or mental level, for the most part. Sitting around and brooding about regrets just illustrates the fact that it’s better to stay busy or begin rusting, for most people.
This means that the deterioration, while actually not purely like ‘rusting’, can indeed be true deterioration and brought about by oxidative damage that increases as people become more sedentary. Those who do the things necessary to engage their bodies and their minds often live more enjoyable lives and our truly motivating to those who are around them. It’s not too difficult to conceive, actually.
One good way to do so is to think about all the different ways that exist to make money online in a legal and legitimate fashion. Maybe one can start a blog about something that one has a passion with, or one can actually start a real and definable Internet business. Whatever it is, it’s sure to keep even a retiree in his 70s or 80s active and at least mentally fit.
It’s more about just keeping people involved in the world around them and busy. Studies show that those who end up self-imposing some sort of mental and physical confinement solely because they believe they’re getting older tend to perform poorly on a range of physical and mental fitness and acuity tests, for a fact. Move with a purpose, and stay one step ahead of pernicious rust, in effect.
Another effective way to occupy and engage the mind along with the body, and certain ways, is head over to the music store and pick out an instrument and learn to play it. Something like an Alvarez acoustic guitar can work well, and it’s a way to develop hand-eye coordination, to boot. This very useful instrument will deliver many hours of enjoyment, if it’s given the chance to do so.
Staying busy by engaging in structured household activities — such as regular home maintenance or even cleaning out the house of all the junk that’s accumulated — is another good way of stating off rust and decline. Take a look around the house; pick up that old black helmet that went with an old black motorcycle decades ago and store it away, for example.
It’s important for people to understand that physical and mental activity — if carried out regularly — can help one live a very long and productive life. Don’t think that chronological age should be an impediment to doing much of anything anymore. Avoid the rocking chair on the porch whenever possible, especially if that rocking chair is calling out for a decades-long stay.
