Plenty Of Craft Choices For All
Crafting is as popular these days as it has ever been, at least it seems like it to me. Various traditions tend to be passed down through the generations and crafting is no exception. Since my mother was involved with crochet and knitting, that is what I ended up doing as well.
I have reached a comfort level with crochet, since I was taught crochet quite young and have been doing it for years, I want to try my hand at some new crafts.
A few years ago I decided to give stenciling a shot. The result was a picture of a blue bird that actually came out pretty good.
I’ve done a couple others that I gave as gifts. I enjoyed it while it lasted, but the supplies were a bit costly and more-or-less convinced me to stop. After spending around $100 for the basic supplies, it was obvious that stenciling was much more expensive than my knitting and crochet.
A while back I started to make a latch hook rug. It was fun, but for some reason I never got around to finishing it, but I’ve still got it and may get back to it one of these days.
I’ve been intrigued with the idea of quilting for quite a while. I would absolutely love to try quilting, but to me, it seems very intimidating. Quilters have told me that it really isn’t all that difficult, but I remain a bit skeptical. I picked up a book on quilting a few years ago and it really does not look easy to me.
Back then, I needed a person to tell me how to do what, but now that there is so much information online, I bet I could learn everything I need to online. I’ve always been impressed by a beautiful quilt and would love to learn how to make them and give them as gifts. Quilting is definitely on my bucket list.
Another one that appeals to me is scrapbooking. I know someone whose mom made a scrapbook for her and presented it to her as a high school graduation gift. Looking at it was like the story of her life, starting when her mom was pregnant with her all the way up to graduation. It was a great idea, and I wished it had occurred to me to make them for my own children. It was a really unique gift, and was something she would likely cherish for the rest of her life.
Painting is a craft I have done before. I really liked it. I started the painting when I was a child. At the time, I was using the paint-by-number kits that featured a black velvet-style background. I had a feeling of accomplishment after finishing those, and now wish I had saved them.
There are so many crafts to try, and so little time to try them!
