Technology And Styles Of Painting.
Painting – is one of the oldest forms of art associated with the transmission of visual images through the application of paints on solid or flexible basis, by creating images using digital technology, as well as works of art by such means.
Until our times images of animals and people made in the days of primitive society on the walls of caves have come. Since then many thousands of years have passed, but painting has always remained constant companion of man’s spiritual life. In the last centuries, it is certainly the most popular of all types of fine art.
The most popular are paintings, done on flat or nearly flat surfaces, such as canvas stretched on a frame, wood, cardboard, paper, processed surface of the walls, etc. The painting is also the images on the decorative and ceremonial vessels, surfaces of which may have a complex shape.
There is also a narrow interpretation of the term painting as works made by paints on canvas, board and other similar materials. In the narrow sense the term painting is opposed to works created on paper, for which it is used the term graphics.
Technology and styles of painting:
Oil;
Tempera;
Enamel;
Gouache (because as the basic material the artist uses paper, which is characteristic for graphic art forms – is classified as a graphics);
Pastel;
Ink (in this case, as in the previous two – it cannot be unambiguously attributed to the graphics; in the East, for example, calligraphy that uses this material is traditionally painting);
Painting on plaster: a fresco and secco;
Glue painting;
Wax painting: encaustic, a wax tempera and cold method (wax paints on turpentine);
Painting by ceramic paints;
Painting by silicate paints;
Watercolor painting (watercolor techniques are different, some of the methods are closer to the painting, some – to the graphics);
Dry brush;
Acrylic;
Mixed technique;
Painting techniques are practically inexhaustible. Everything that leaves a mark on something, strictly speaking, is a painting: painting is created by nature, time and person.
From the XV century it became a popular oil painting, in the XX century appear synthetic paints with binder polymer (acrylic, vinilik etc.). Paints can be prepared from the natural and artificial pigments.
Gouache, watercolor, Chinese ink and pastel are also painting.
Painting can be made on any basis: on stone, plaster, canvas, silk, paper, leather (including the body of an animal or human – tattoos), the metal on asphalt, concrete, etc., and etc.
Art can be met and is adjacent to the plastic arts, including architecture, sculpture; it may participate in the formation of artificial and natural environment.
Painting, like other visual arts, is illusory: it is an imitation of a three-dimensional space in the plane, achieved through linear and color perspective. But its visual and color aspect (eye perceives in a moment almost infinite information) determines the unique place among all the paintings of Fine Arts.
