The Nuts And Bolts Of Abstract Art.
Abstractionism is a very wide trend in the art of XX century, which arose in early 1910 in several European countries and used only the formal elements – line, color spot, an abstract configuration – for creation compositions. The founders of abstract art are Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky and Kazimir Malevich, the Dutchman Piet Mondrian, the Frenchman Robert Delaunay and Czech Frantisek Kupka – in their compositions they based, as a rule, on mystical ideas, borrowed from the theosophical doctrine.
The method of abstract theories was the attempt to symbolically express the internal laws and intuitively grasped essences behind the occurring phenomena of the visible world. The primary elements of the form were treated by Kandinsky, Malevich and Mondrian as kinds of picturesque characters, endowed with the original spiritual content, and the plastic formulas, organized of these characters – as the relationship between elements of the universe. Created abstract paintings were thought as projections of the structures of outer world order, and as projects of ideal structure of social world, and as the concepts of spatial organization of substantive human environment.
Since the emergence of abstract art, it have been clearly defined two areas: geometric abstraction, based mainly on the clearly-defined configurations (Malevich, Mondrian), and lyrical abstraction, in which the composition is organized from the free flowing forms (Kandinsky). If the symbolism of geometric abstraction is intended to reflect some stable “of substantial” state, the abstraction of Kandinsky and his followers filled with pulsating forms, complex rhythms and shimmering color, focus on the dynamics of the process. After World War II aesthetic concepts of abstract art lose their metaphysical symbolism: now an abstract form relates only to the manifestations of nature and the social world, or is regarded as the fixation of mental states of the artist. The latter fact turned the notion of “abstractionism” in everyday use symbol of formalism in various fields of art.
Abstractionism – is an extreme form of modernism, has emerged as a challenge to society and as consistent destruction of real image that reflects the world by usual means. We can say that abstract art emerged from the wreckage of Cubism, Futurism and several other modernist movements reached its decline. Kandinsky, K. Malevich, P. Klee, V. Tatlin, Larionov, M., R. Delaunay, P. Mondrian, and others were at the origins of abstract art.
They, asserting the importance of subconscious, examined the creative process as an immersion into the world of intuitive movements of the soul, the automatic transmission of the feelings. They proceeded from the assumption that the relationship of art with life forms had been exhausted and a person was not able to realize the world and to put it in plastic images due to the diversity of the new world. Means of display of vague subconscious image can be various: from the classic canvas to paint and stone, wire, debris, pipes, etc. The main thing in abstractionism – is a combination of colors, lines, spots, lines, isolated from the natural and social reality. It is pointless and formless art.
