You Can Make Perfume In Your Own Home

With the economy taking a bath many people are finding the cost of perfume to be more than they can afford. There is a way to save on perfumes and that is by making them yourself at home. Perfume makes a great gift for friends and if you make it yourself it won’t cost you too much either.

Get the ingredients from some local stores and just use the euipment you would expect to have in any kitchen for the preparation. You might imagine you need a laboratory and a white coated scientist but that just isn’t the case.

The first thing to do is to decide on the type of perfume you want to make and then get all the ingredients together. To make your own perfume you will need some essential oils but apart from that you need little more than water and pure grain alcohol or vodka. These are the ingredients usually used and you can add further scents to these. The different types of perfumes we are all familiar with are cologne, Eau De Cologne and Eau de Toilette. It is a little more involved to make a proper perfume because they are made with blends of animal and vegetable oils.

Every one of them will have an entirely different chemical makeup and they all give very different results from each other. Most of these inexpensive items will be available at a local store near you. We can start making perfume once we have assembled our ingredients and decided on the equipment we will use for the process.

The essential oil used to make your perfume will be the most important ingredient in making the scent. You get different results with each one as the chemical make up of them all is quite different. It helps if you understand about the notes used in perfume as these are terms to describe the scent using words like bass notetop, middle and bridge notes.

If you want to find out more there are many books about making perfume available online and you can buy kits that come complete with an instructional manual. It makes things easy having a kit and since they don’t cost a great deal it might be worth getting a kit when you start out.
