Your Personal Touch on Montana Craft Shows

Craft fairs and festivals are unique experiences. Here, you will get to meet people of varying skills and talents. From the calm, calculating woodcarver, to the master embroider who loves to show off her amazing works of art. All of these have a story to share, and even more wonderful pieces to show the world. But even if you go there not looking for crafts, it’ll be worth your while to just meet these people.

But don’t get me wrong, though. It’s not my intention to make light of their crafts in any way at all. Those are the star attractions in a craft show, after all. But the crafted piece is, in effect a piece of the crafts person’s soul. Because of this, ones appreciation for a person’s crafted item should increase.

Whenever I attend a craft show in Montana, I always put in effort to get to know the people who have put in their hearts and souls into these crafted pieces. There are times, though, that the person handling the booth is not the creator. As disappointing as that may be, I got used to it, as it happens quite a lot, really. As it happens, whenever I get the chance to talk to the actual artisan, I can better appreciate the chat we have.

Therefore, if you are aspiring to be an accomplished artisan living in Montana, I encourage you to be a leader in this respect. Not only will you see people appreciate your crafted items when they buy them, but you’ll get to handle the booth personally and take charge of any mishap that may happen. It’s risky business to leave your small business in the hands of inexperienced people, so better to do it yourself.

If you some skill with crafts making, and you have a desire to start your own small business, I would advise to take a hands-on approach to it. It’s okay to hire a few extra set of hands to help, and they will lift some of the burden from you, but always maintain your presence at your booth.
